Class Gift

Welcome to the Class Gift section of the website. The Class Gift Initiative is a chance for the class to leave a legacy at RPI, to leave behind a mark that will be remembered for many years in the future. The Class Gift is entirely student organized, so it allows us to create something that we can claim uniquely belongs to us. This why it is so important that we pick the best gift possible, and get as many people to contribute as we can. Please look around and read about the Class Gift initiative. WELCOME TO SENIOR YEAR!!!

It's our final year- our last year to make our mark on this campus. Class Gift has traditionally been the perfect way to do so- and make a lasting impression. Now that we're all back and getting in to the swing of things, it's time to get cracking on fund-raising and get started on the class gift! If you're interested in being a part of history, please fill out this form to indicate your interest, and we'll get started!

Ideas that have been discussed include helping to convert the '86 field into a park, re-landscaping the Quad Commons, and building a patio where the '86 field score board used to be. Any input you have, as the Class of 2010, would be appreciated!

About the Class Gift

What is the Student Philanthropy Initiative?

The Student Philanthropy Initiative is a program created by the Class of 2010 to foster a culture of giving back to RPI. The goal of the program is to raise money for the class gift. However, we hope to have a more far-reaching impact, by demonstrating the personal benefits of giving back to RPI.

Some Gift examples are...

• The redesign of the 15th Street pedestrian bridge.
• The fountain on Freshman Hill.
• The flags outside the Union.
• The ’86 Field.
• The ’87 Gymnasium.

The gift will be chosen based on the opinions of the entire class of 2010, and therefore the council will conduct several polls during the gift selection process. You may e-mail any council member with your ideas for the class gift. All ideas are welcome!

Where will my money Go?

The money will be held by the Class of 2010 council in a separate class gift account until it is used to purchase the gift in our senior year. All contributions will go towards the Class of 2010 class gift.

Levels of Giving

Levels of Giving

We invite everyone member of the class of 2010 to donate ANY amount. However we have made some different levels of giving that you may want to aim for.

• 2010 Contributor (For ANY Contribution)
• 2010 Philanthropist (Contributions from $50-$99)
• 2010 Patroon (Contributions above $100)

In recognition of your contribution, the Donation section of the Class Web Site will feature a listing of all student donors as well as the total amount of money raised. For each level of giving we have the following benefits:

2010 Contributor

• You will receive an invitation to the dedication of the 2010 class gift.
• Your name will be listed in yearly Rensselaer publications thanking you as a donor.

2010 Philanthropist

• All of the above.
• You will receive an invitation to the 2010 class gift thank-you dinner.

2010 Student Patroon

• Your name will be permanently recognized on or near the Class gift site.
• You will receive an invitation to the Patroon Dinner, a celebration of philanthropy held on campus with RPI alumni Patroon donors.
• You will have access to the Patroon Room during hockey games at the Houston Field House.

Why Give?

Reasons to Give

There are many benefits to donating towards the class gift. The first and longest lasting is the pride of having participated in a great charitable event and the knowledge that you left a lasting legacy of your time here at RPI.

Leave Your Mark on RPI...

Donating towards the class gift is a great way to:
• Show your pride for our class and alma mater
• Contribute towards campus improvements
• Leave a legacy at RPI that will be remembered for years

Every donation is important...

...no matter the amount. Although it may not seem like much, gathering even a single dollar from a large percentage of our class would result in a very meaningful contribution. For example:

• If 25% of students donate $1 each over three years, we can raise $750.
• If 50% of students donate $5 each over three years, we can raise $7,500.
• If 25% of students donate $20 each over three years, we can raise $25,000!

It adds up quickly! This is why it is the 2010 class council’s goal to achieve 50% participation from our class. But we can only get there with your help!
